Waited in the waiting room for six hours (which i expected based on these reviews). When I was called in to be seen, I was hopeful to be helped and moved along with tests and results. At first, I was. I got medicine first thing too.

After my initial round of tests, I was left alone til around 10pm just waiting for the next test ...next communication or check in. But no one checked in on me. When I called the button to see if I could get more pillows and blankets if I was going to wait longer they said I was ready for my next test.

I got back from my CAT scan at 11pm and asked when I should expect results and one of the nurses in the lobby mentioned I should hear something on an hour and a half.

It came up to around 230am and I called the nurse by hitting the button (otherwise, no one checks on me). I asked if anyone would be able to share result with me and asking if they need anymore tests from me. She was frantically trying to hook me back up to my heart rate and blood pressure (because no one did after my tests over seven hours ago) and continued to share that they are short staffed and they weren't able to. I looked up at the clock and the nurse said "are you having trouble seeing the time" in the most patronizing way possible. No, I'm checking the time to see if that excuse you just gave me is still valid after how long I've been here. I've been in this room for 8 hours and not a single person connected with me around wait times, results, or checking in to see how I am, or what I can anticipate next. Nothing. Not a single thing. Not even bringing me my extra pillow. Or a glass of water.

When the doctor came in around 6am he mentioned he lost my CT results and that's why it took so long. Why did he wait so long to tell me that?

When the nurse came in to give me my discharge paperwork, she asked if I had any questions and I said I forgot to ask the doctor about x and she said "the doctor told me you refused more testing on x, do you no longer wish to refuse testing?" I looked right at her and said "excuse me!?" I never said that. I would never refuse a test if it was a matter of figuring out my health.

I am so turned off my experience here. I would never feel comfortable coming back. I was there a total of 18 hours. All they need is someone to facilitate respectful communication better and I would have been okay.

I was at the ER last night (10/8/24) and felt compelled to write a review about how NICE everyone was. From the woman who took my vitals at the initial check in, to the woman who took my blood, to the ultrasound tech and the doctor who eventually put everything together for me, every single one of those women were compassionate, down to earth, understanding, funny, and just generally put me at ease during an uncertain time. I can't say enough good things about the staff, I only wish I had gotten all of their names to be able to shout them out personally. There are a lot of negative reviews about this ER, but not from me, I have nothing but good things to say about my experience there last night. If someone from Umass is reading this, please look up who was working with me so you can tell them I said THANK YOU.

I have had two emergency experiences here with my elderly mother, and i couldn't be happier with the staff and the way we were treated. People complaining about wait time, that's how it is everywhere if you aren't dying, didn't slam your head or have a life threatening injury. It's an EMERGENCY room. WE had emergencies and they were handled amazingly. We were in and out within three hours and that included ct scan, xray, blood work etc. They were kind, caring, treated my mother with respect and were very professional.

This was the most awful experience I've ever had in my entire life. 12 hours. 12 hours I waited vomiting profusely. They never gave me an IV of fluids, once they got me into a room they made me wait 3 hours for results I never received. So 8 hours in a waiting room puking non stop, then 3 hours in a room for nothing. I begged for a cup of water. Never came. I had to drink from the sink. Oh yeah and they determined I was pregnant. No IV of fluids, no water. Are you fing kidding me. Disgusting treatment. Avoid at all costs.

+12 hours waiting in the emergency room. No communication of any sort from the staff or updates on wait time.

EDIT: Ended up being +17 hours.

We were sent over from a smaller clinic that recommend a head MRI. This was conveyed to the receptionist. After the long wait, we were told that head and neck MRI were not possible unless it was a life-threatening situation. It would have been great if the receptionist would have told us this before we sat in the waiting room overnight.

There were other patients who waited longer than we did.

Emergency rooms really need to think about putting in place a communication system between hospitals to let patients know a real-time accurate waiting periods. So that patients can be diverted to other locations. Along with what diagnostic services and equipment are available at each location.
