I was been so impressed with the care my daughter received at Hasboro, both in the ED and the hospital. They took us right in due to an emergent situation; they were timely, kind, organized, and cleanly. They explained everything so my daughter would understand and had cute little tricks to help with difficult situations, like using "Elsa spray" to numb the skin before the IV. There was an advocate that came by to offer my daughter activities and provide me support. It was comfortable and I felt like we were in great hands. Thank you all for your dedication!

This is a candid review from a local who went here as a child and now as a parent. My son has been to the Hasbro ER a few times. Once for a serious incident with croup cough and more recently for a tricky antibiotic reaction. Both of these cases were true pediatric emergencies that required the unique expertise that Hasbro Children’s Hospital offers.

Going to Hasbro ER isn’t our number one choice just because there are a lot of sick kids and you have the potential of coming home with a new illness that you got while you were there. When it is a true pediatric emergency, Hasbro is amazing. During our recent visit we received great care from the doctors, nurses, patient advocate, and the child life specialist.

The hospital is very busy and the staff there work hard. You need to be patient and understanding because it is an emergency room and you don’t necessarily want to be the ER’s number one priority. If you have a more routine issue, you should go to an urgent care or your regular doctor first.

When this hospital first opened it was 10/10. The lobby was beautiful. It was a place that was very kid oriented. It’s very tired looking now and is overall too clinical looking for a children’s hospital. Lifespan needs to invest more in the facility to get it back to where it once was. It’s also clear that more staffing is needed in the floor when it’s busy because the overall patient flow is too slow at times. If you do have a poor experience with a staff member, just remember that they are working hard and it’s a challenging place to be. I would personally have a hard time working with very sick kids each day and having it weigh me down. I get there are a lot of 1 star reviews here and the staff and facility deserves much more credit for the amazing work that they do.

We went to Hasbro Children Hospital emergency for my daughter because she threw up red vomit. I ask my wife what she feed her. My wife said some blueberries and it made me worry that the red vomit might be blood. She was already on antibiotics for 3 days for pneumonia.
We arrived at the emergency around 9 PM. There were no prior patients waiting so they took care of us right away. Asked us a few basic questions then in about 5 minutes we are already in a room. A nurse her name is Cameron show up and took care of my daughter. Nurse Cameron is great, very patience and answers all our questions. Then a couple of Dr. came in to check on my daughter and one of them ask to see my daughter vomit and she said when blueberry after digestion could look like it and definitely not blood. That gave us peace of mind. But still they decided to keep my daughter after some examination and we got a room in about 3 hours after we arrived at emergency. I am very impressed with that.

We end up staying in the hospital till Sunday and our all around experience is great. They really care about my daughter.

Thanks everyone and Hasbro hospital

I was at the ER this morning and waited a little bit longer in the ER. The doctor (Sydney Tucker, MD) was very helpful and kind to us and my baby, but one of the ER staff was rude and disrespectful. While I was holding my baby girl and standing in the hallway showing my little one this beautiful wall display, she (the lady with blue uniform) yelled at me to get into the room. It was very shocking; I felt like I was in a different country.
But I would like to thank the other staff for their help and sincerely apologize for leaving without a formal discharge from the ER.
The four-star rating is solely for the service provided by the Dr Sydney."

My time at Hasbro Children’s Hospital left me deeply disappointed. Seeking treatment for my eating disorder turned into a distressing ordeal marked by neglect and dehumanization.

Upon arrival, I was told there was no food available, a puzzling situation for a facility specializing in treating eating disorders. Things only got worse when I was admitted to the eating disorder program. Instead of care, I felt like a prisoner.

We were referred to as numbers, not by our actual names , and basic needs like unlocked bathrooms were scarce. We were even wheeled to meals despite being perfectly able to walk. They stripped us of any identity making us take of all jewelry, piercings we had to wear our hair a certain way for meals and weren’t even allowed to wear or own clothes which has nothing to even do with eating disorders. Personal items were taken away, and the phone policy was absurd—we couldn't use our phones but were bombarded with food commercials on TV.

Overall, my experience at Hasbro was awful. It lacks compassion and treats patients with disrespect. This program is a complete joke. I advise anyone considering treatment to avoid this place entirely. If I could, I'd give it zero stars.

My son needed an emergency MRI for an infection in his toe. We waited 12.5 hours for the MRI. While waiting, we were basically forgotten about. We had to seek out nurses for fluids. The IV they put in my son was so uncomfortable and we mentioned it to several nurses and we were ignored until my son was finally admitted. Once admitted he couldn’t even move his arm from the IV placement. Something happened with his veins from the IV. He needed an ultrasound on his arm once we got up to our room. The place is horrible. Hasbro Hospital, has been a much better place. They care, they listen and they treat you with compassion, unlike the ER.

I'm a healthcare worker, and must admit I was nervous about bringing my two-year old son for fear of typically very long wait times for any ER visit. I was concerned he may require IV hydration and felt we would chance it. Perhaps we got lucky, but we were taken in and seen very promptly. Everyone, especially our providers were very pleasant and helpful and made a nerve-wracking experience a little easier. We were kept informed on plan of care/testing and results. I was amazed... we were in and out in less than 3 hours!

Long story short, the Emergency Department staff was great. We did visit twice in one weekend, the first time we got a room right away for an evaluation, likely our situation, but they sent us home with oral meds which unfortunately did not work as quickly as needed so we had to return. The return was almost as swift with a room, wait was fairly quick and the Dr was right in, funny and sympathetic, and admitted us quickly with the appropriate level of care. Nurses and the rest of the ED staff were so kind and caring and were so sad to see our return but happy that we were getting the appropriate quick treatment and diagnosis. The staff on the floor we were on were also great and provided plenty of education and information on what was going on. Overall, one of the most stressful weekends of my life but so glad we had all the great support from hasbro.
